Apple's Next Vision Headset Might Be More Accessible — But Still Premium

Apple’s Vision Pro, their bold step into mixed reality, hasn't revolutionized the market just yet, but the tech giant isn’t backing down from the challenge. According to a recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is already planning its next mixed reality release, potentially as early as next year.

This time, it looks like Apple might be targeting a more affordable price point—around $2,000. While still far from cheap, this is significantly lower than the $3,500 Vision Pro. To get there, Apple would opt for more cost-effective materials, a less powerful processor, and would cut features like EyeSight, which allows others to see the user’s eyes while wearing the headset.

But Apple isn’t stopping there. Gurman also suggests that a second-generation Vision Pro is slated for 2026, with other exciting possibilities on the horizon. We might see Apple introduce smart glasses by 2027 (similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans) and even AirPods with built-in cameras.

Apple is also rethinking its approach to smart home devices. Despite some earlier stumbles in the space, the report hints at an “affordable iPad-like screen” designed for around-the-house use, from streaming TV to making FaceTime calls. A follow-up device with a robot arm might also be in the works, priced at around $1,000.

While these innovations may not have reached mass market appeal just yet, Apple’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible shows that they’re just getting started. With the right balance of design, functionality, and accessibility, their vision for the future of tech is only going to get sharper.
