Looking Ahead: Apple’s Next Wave of Devices
While most of us are just starting to get familiar with Apple’s latest iPads and Macs, new details are already emerging about what’s next.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is quietly working on the next generation of iPad Pro models—this time featuring an M6 chip and, for the first time, Apple’s own 5G modem. It’s a move that marks Apple’s continued push to bring more of its hardware components in-house, moving away from reliance on Qualcomm.
The timeline? Gurman says the updated iPad Pro with Apple’s C2 modem is expected in 2027. That’s a few product cycles away, but if Apple sticks to its usual rhythm, we can expect an M5 model to land around October 2025.
Also mentioned is a new entry-level iPad—likely the 12th generation—along with updated MacBook Air models equipped with M5 chips. No firm dates for these yet, but 2026 seems likely.
There are no design shakeups rumoured yet. But as always with Apple, refinement comes gradually, with the real changes often happening beneath the surface.
It’s early, but the direction is clear: faster chips, tighter integration, and more control over every component. Something we can relate to at Bionic.
